Options for KS4
The Options booklet gives you details about the courses on offer at Hartsdown Technology College for students beginning year 10 in September 2007.
The National Curriculum provides a framework of 3 core subjects and other compulsory elements, in order to ensure breadth and balance. In addition you will be able to choose further subjects from those on offer. It is very important that you read the information carefully so that you will understand the kind of work you will be doing and the choices you can make. You should also talk to your subject teachers and form tutor to find out more.
It is expected that you will stay in education until you are 18. As part of the process of choosing courses, you also need to start considering the choices open to you at 16+, at the end of year 11. One possibility would be to continue your Vocational option to the next level. Alternatively you may wish to select from the vast range of ‘A’ levels and other courses and qualifications that are offered to students as part of the Thanet Consortium. Hopefully the information in this booklet will help you to sort out your ideas on some of these career issues too.
