Community Partnerships

Hartsdown takes an active part in community life. On this page you will find information about community projects the college is involved with and be able to read the latest Community news stories.

Working together with our local community is important to us and vital to our development as a Technology College.

During this year we have:
  • Held a 6th Form Citizenship Conference involving local MPs discussing globalisation and local issues.
  • Held elections for Kent Youth County Council.
  • Undertaken a mock election with senior students representing the main parties
  • Hosted a firefighter visiting for Year 8 classes to promote personal safety and to highlight the dangers of arson and anti-social behaviour.
  • Invited speakers from Options to promote positive relationships to Year 9 groups.
  • Piloted a Parent Information Point; continued our Quartet in the Community Deveopment Programme.
  • Welcomed many junior schools to sports, science and other events.
  • Continued the good work of our own College Council.
  • Run Master Classes and Adult Education classes.
  • Built further links with Thanet Campus & Christ Church College.
  • Provided a Year 11 Conference on Preparing for Opportunities and, through East Kent Business Partnerships, also provided Year 10 work experience.
  • Eco-schools project
  • Been provided with a DVD player for luch time activities from Mr Radley.

Buckets of Cash for Lifeboat Charity
STUDENTS and staff made a splash for charity cash when they filled buckets with coins to help boost funds for the RNLI.
