Inclusion School FAQs

What is the Inclusion School?
Essentially, it was the Additional Educational Needs (AEN) department. It includes all aspects of AEN Support; encompassing the Turnaround Centre and Minority Communities where "English as an Additional Language" support is required.
Who teaches in it?
It is led by Mrs I. Hack who is Head of Inclusion School. Reporting to her and organising particular aspects of support are a range of teaching assistants, teachers and other specialists. They work throughout the college but for many the Inclusion Centre is the focal point of their activities.
Who are the students in the Inclusion School?
It might be worth rephrasing the question as “which students are not part of the Inclusion School?” The Inclusion School is everywhere. As a result just about everyone has access to a range of support. During their time at HTC most students will benefit from some intervention and support.
Where is the Inclusion School?
Staff from the Inclusion School provide support throughout HTC, in all subject areas and with all age groups. The Inclusion Centre was previously known as the Family Centre. As already stated a number of staff are based here as are many scheduled support sessions.
How can we access support, help or information?
Through a variety of people who fall into a couple of broad categories:
  • Any member of staff, e.g. Pastoral managers, form tutors, Heads of House, etc.
  • Students, parents or carers or other professionals.
How do we know support is in place and being successful?
Parent/Carers will automatically be consulted and informed about the support needs of the student. The parent/carer and the student are welcome to make an appointment to come in and discuss how things are going. Support leaders will regularly monitor and evaluate progress being made.
How can we ask for outside help?
Again, come along and meet with us.

We can only make one promise; we will support to the very best of our abilities.

For more information on how we may be able to help please contact Mr Jon Owen, Director of the Inclusion School.
