Be Healthy
The curriculum embraces the principles of Healthy Schools, and informs students about important current issues such as Drug Awareness, Internet Safety, Sexual Health and Domestic Violence in a range of contexts. We provide guidance for students to develop their emotional intelligence within lessons and tutor time. Specialist intervention is offered if needed.
The healthy schools programme is designed to support improvements through a whole school approach to health
and well-being. This is a national award which revolves around supporting our students and parents in four key
areas: personal, social and health education, healthy eating, physical activity, and emotional health and well-being.
Our programme aims to address the inequalities of opportunities and supports every student.
One crucial development is that we have taken direct control of the college canteen, with an emphasis on providing well-balanced and varied nutritious food.
The National Healthy Schools Programme is an exciting long term initiative that helps young people and their schools to be healthy.
The Programme isn't just about physical health, it's about good health and happiness inside and out. And it's not just about pupils either; a Healthy School involves the whole school community – from parents to governors to school staff – in improving their health and their happiness and getting the most out of life.
